Holocaust Speaker visits The Warren School

Back
April 29th 2025

On the 28th April 2025, a speaker from Generation to Generation visited to share her family's story and its tragic link to the Holocaust. Joan Noble shared with students the story of her family through the diary her mother, Liesel, kept when she was a child growing up in Nazi Germany. Her mother managed to flee Nazi Germany in 1938 and moved to South Africa and then England, though her grandparents were not so lucky and both died at Auschwitz. Joan brought this tragic story to life through her compelling story-telling and her mother's artefacts which she had with her. Students got to see Liesel’s diary and some of her clothes. Students were impeccably behaved and asked good historical questions at the end. Our thanks go to Joan for coming in and emphasising the important message that we must all learn the lessons from the past
