On Thursday 10^th November, The Warren School had a professional singer-songwriter visit the Music department, leading five classes through how to write lyrics and express themselves through songwriting.  Hannah Jane Lewis is an experienced songwriter and she has performed all over the world and supported acts such as Jess Glynne, Rita Ora and Shawn Mendes.

It was really inspiring for the Year 8 and 9 students to meet someone in the music industry and explore different songwriting techniques.  Students said, "It's been amazing to meet someone who actually writes songs for their job, she seems really normal and makes me think I could do it too" and "I'm not good at making up ideas and poetry but when she gave us a starting word I found it a lot easier."

Hannah was extremely complementary about the student's creativity and enthusiasm.  We hope the workshops may have inspired the next singer-songwriters and look forward to hearing more of their ideas in the future.
