British Schools Karting Championship – Regional Final
Back
On Tuesday 9th May, three Year 10 students represented the Warren School for the Regional Final of the British Schools Karting Championship. Competing against eight other teams for just two places in the National Final, it would go without saying that the racing would be incredible at TeamSport Karting Mitcham.
Our three drivers – Pyotar, Yassin, and Jonathan – would first take to the track for an eight-minute practice session to get to grips with a new circuit, before they each had two races against the rest of their competitors. Unfortunately, almost all of their rivals had brought with them a wealth of prior karting experience ranging from regional to international levels, resulting in a defeat by the end of the night. The Warren School team finished in joint sixth place overall, although two highlight performances by Yassin – third and fourth places respectively – managed to haul good points and keep the team morale high.
Mr Halstead has been incredibly proud of all nine drivers that took part and flew the Warren School flag on the racetrack – Pyotar, Yassin, Jonathan, Prajit, Faizan, Zia, Aminah, Isabelle, and Joel – and would like to thank the students, their parents, minibus drivers Mr Holland and Mr Tyrrell, and Ms Ashe, for all of their support in this experience. He hopes to bring a new crop of racing talent back to the BSKC next year!
