The Old Vic Workshop and Theatre Performance

Back
December 6th 2023

Thirty students from Years 9 to 13 were selected to take part in The Old Vic Schools Club, as part of The English Department’s commitment to exposing our pupils to the beauty of live theatre.

Our first workshop was on the art of directing and how Directors can shape and construct the drama that we see on the big stage. The students were then able to see the theory put into practice by attending a matinee performance of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion at The Old Vic. The students were impeccably behaved and marvelled at the seamless performance, full of quick-wit and sharp humour. We look forward to our next workshop at the end of November and visiting the theatre to watch an eagerly-awaited performance of A Christmas Carol.
