We Compose Performance
BackWe Compose performance
On Wednesday 31st January we went to visit Sydney Russell school to watch the internationally acclaimed Ligeti Quartet. They are a professional string quartet who specialise in performing modern works and are going to be working on a project with 23 Warren students.
Our challenge is to compose pieces of music for the Ligeti quartet to perform at a concert at The Broadway Theatre in July.
Students were introduced to the quartet and were able to speak with the musicians before and after the concert and they were complimented on asking such complex and musical questions.
The Ligeti quartet performed 4 pieces to us and we came away feeling very inspired with plenty of ideas for our own pieces.
"It was amazing to see them perform live."
"The piece sounded completely different and much better than the recording we had listened to."
"They are amazing performers. I want to write a really difficult piece for them to play now!"
Warren students were outstanding on the trip and we can't wait to hear the ideas that they are going to come up with during the project.
