Year 8 Trip to The Royal Albert Hall
Back
On 9th November, 30 Year 8 students were lucky enough to visit the world class London venue, The Royal Albert Hall. We were lucky enough to get a VIP tour, exploring areas rarely seen by the public, including the royal box and private waiting room, the royal staircase and also a stairway that leads to nowhere and is allegedly haunted! We learnt amazing facts about the hall, how it was built, how it contains thousands of tributes from Queen Victoria to her husband Prince Albert and even how it is used for sporting and science events, not just music!
After the tour we took our seats for an amazing concert of future musical stars, presented by London poet LionHeart and saxophonist Jess Gillam. The performances were amazing and to be in a space which can seat over 5000 audience members was amazing.
Here are a few of the comments made by the students:
"I can't believe this place exists. It's so big and the decoration on everything is so good!"
"I really liked all the performances; my favourites were the three rap singers and also the singer-songwriter on the guitar."
"This has been the best trip ever!"
"Queen Victoria must have really loved Albert to have built this place!"
"My mind is blown because King Charles will be standing right here in a few days time."
"Even Albert Einstein has been here!"
We had an absolutely amazing day and it was a truly memorable experience for us all. Well done to all the students who attended and hopefully we can visit again soon!
