London Lions Basketball Trip to The Copper Box Arena
BackOn 30th November, 36 students had the opportunity to go and watch the London Lions at the Copper Box Arena. The Lions were playing against Slask Wrockaw in the Euro Cup. The game was fantastic, with students having the opportunity to observe a fast-paced, high level basketball game.
Students got involved with the atmosphere within the stadium, chanting and supporting the home team. Some students were so fantastic with their support that they received complimentary t-shirts for their hard efforts.
The game was very close from the outset, but by the end of full time the score was 97-80 to the home team. Students saw fantastic technique being demonstrated by the players and highlighted areas for improvement in their own teams, talking about how they could adopt this technique. We also talked about different club options available to students both within The Warren and outside competitive clubs.
Poppy – “The game was fantastic and I really enjoyed seeing competitive basketball for the first time”
Daniella - “The Lions and the atmosphere was amazing. They were so tall and they could jump so high. I want to improve my jumping skills to help my basketball performance!”
