Year 10 Trip – British Schools Karting Championship
BackFollowing their first practice session on 1st February, nine Year 10 students donned their helmets and gloves once again and went racing for the Local Final of the British Schools Karting Championship with Mr Halstead and Mr Holland. For most of them, this was their first time sharing a track with drivers outside of our team, and they were all very excited to go wheel-to-wheel with their rivals.
Despite other drivers turning up in their own racing gear with plenty of experience under their belts, our three teams refused to be intimidated and fought valiantly on the race track. All nine of our drivers made huge improvements on the times they set in their practice session six weeks earlier, and through some excellent racing and determination, the A team comprised of Jonathan, Yassin and Pyotar brought home third position and a place in the Regional Final! The B team of Faizan, Prajit and Zia finished in fifth place by only three points, narrowly missing the final spot to advance to the next round, and our C team (Isabelle and Aminah, without the injured Joel) finished in seventh place.
Brimming with renewed confidence, Mr Halstead and The Warren’s A Team are eagerly awaiting the Regional Final, with the best of the London-based teams going head-to-head in May to see who will make it to the final round, the National Final, in June.
