Year 7 Fashion Show
Back
On Monday 27th March, Year 7 students who have been working with the Studio 3 Arts fashion and textiles experts presented their pieces to their friends and family. Students shared work including weaving, needlework, tie-dyeing and up-cycled clothing. They presented their fashion designs in a catwalk show and spoke articulately about the process, their design choices and also what they had enjoyed about the experience. They also spoke confidently when asked questions in a Q&A session about how they have learnt to appreciate different styles of fashion, will be thinking about what effort goes into a garment when out shopping and will be trying to re-style some of their old clothes to give them a new lease of life.
Parents commented on how impressed they were with the work produced by the students and their confidence to perform in the fashion show. Some parents are even planning to gather all the old clothing they can find at home so their children can really experiment with fashion design. Hopefully this project has inspired the next generation of fashion designers!
A huge thank you goes to the Studio 3 Arts team who worked all Spring term with the students, supporting their creativity and giving them this amazing insight into the fashion world.
We look forward to our next project with them, which will have a Drama focus during the Summer Term.
