7W Rewards Trip to the Science Museum

Form 7W were treated to a visit to the Science Museum on Thursday 25th April 2024, accompanied by Form Tutor Ms Cawley and Achievement Team Leader Mr Halstead. Pupils were keen to try out a new exhibition in particular: “Turn It Up”, an immersive musical experience.
We explored many areas of the Museum, where the Exploring Space, Energy Hall and Flight exhibits were the first to captivate our young minds. Rayyan, Aurby and Arya were particularly excited by the various means of transport used throughout the years on the Museum’s ground floor. Naseeha, Keisha and Vaishnavi had their curiosity piqued by the Medicine Galleries, as well as the exhibits on potential careers as Engineers and Technicians on the first floor.
“Turn It Up” was the interactive highlight that the students had hoped to enjoy, with opportunities to see and listen to a wide range of conventional (and unconventional) musical instruments, from violins and recorders, to Lego, and even to a musical climbing frame of sorts! We also took a moment of meditation with some relaxing ambient music, before discovering why music sets us in certain moods and how we can use it to our advantage.
The trip ended with a lunch break and a quick stop at the gift shop before a calm ride back to school on the train. The pupils were fantastic throughout the trip, with many compliments from the public on their behaviour at the Museum and on public transport. Mr Halstead would like to thank Ms Cawley and 7W for their hard work and excellent behaviour throughout the Spring Term, and very much hopes to take them on at least one more trip before Year 7 comes to an end!
