Year 9 and 10 French Ambassadors Trip to Warren Junior School
BackOn Thursday 22nd June, Mr Halstead took four groups of Year 9 students and one group of Year 10 students to Warren Junior School to show off their linguistic talents as French Ambassadors. Having planned a day’s worth of French fun and games with French Co-ordinator Madame Solanki, our students took part in various activities about les passe-temps (hobbies) with Year 6 French pupils. There was no encouragement needed to participate, with older and younger pupils alike speaking confidently in their best accents, and playing some our favourite language games together such as Touchez le Tableau and Lotto.
One of our Year 9 students was clearly very impressed with the attitude and ability shown by Year 6 in general, saying, “I had no idea how keen they were to learn and how quickly they picked it all up!” A Year 10 student added that he was “really proud to have been part of something special in French” and “would love to work with the pupils again if they join us in Year 7.” On the other side of the exchange, some of the Warren Junior pupils left feedback comments such as, “I loved this lesson and I really loved working with Gursimret”, and “I found this fun!! Zahra was really nice!!”
Mr Halstead would like to say merci beaucoup to his Year 9 and Year 10 volunteers – Imogen, Nidhi, Jamila, Arisha, Aaron, Inaya, Weronika, Diya, Arjun, Joel, Zahra, Gursimret, Eniola and Tiana, to ATLs Ms Rodney and Mr Goodman for allowing them to participate, and especially to Madame Solanki at Warren Junior School for sharing such an enjoyable day with us.
