Year 8: The British Library Trip

Back
June 24th 2024

The English Department are delighted to continue our collaboration with The British Library and have taken over 200 students to visit the world-famous venue this year. Students were treated to an exhibition and a creative writing masterclass, using the artefacts as inspiration.

One class were fortunate enough to be invited to a special event, that took place on Friday 21st June, in celebration of Refugee Week. Internationally award-winning Children’s and YA author Sita Brahmachari introduced the No Place Like Home schools competition and gave a keynote presentation, drawing on her work with displaced people and reading from her novels which spotlight the experience of refugees. The students were also able to visit the Beyond the Bassline exhibition, exploring the influence of Black British music and its development through time. The students were impeccably behaved and have all benefited from this informative, educational and eye-opening trip!
